I have never been to Berlin before. When everyone was talking about a city full of almost forgotten industrial locations, I had no idea how did they look like. And how could I?
You know me already: I have a real passion for abandoned places, for old factories and old houses, and for everything that is no longer used.
In Berlin, all these places that have been “left behind” are fashionable, and I am happy about it. I am happy about not breathing fresh white paint, because it is always white, and not having to be careful and watch my step while I am walking. Also, I am happy not be surrounded by a “clean and perfect design”.
Imperfection is always better.
I spent 24 hours in Berlin in order to attend the #gapxzalando party, that is to say the launch of the American brand on the most famous e-commerce platform for men, women and kids: Zalando.
As soon as I walked into the party I immediately felt sick. I mean, when I first saw the old factory, the lift out of order, walls of bricks and huge windows, I was instinctively holding my breath. What attracts me the most is that hybrid feeling between contemporary people and this old place.
To be honest everything there was interesting: there was a photo booth, the ice crea truck (including flavors like Oreo, Smarties, cereals, white and dark chocolate), colorful lights, grilled salmon and Greek cheese, the perfect soundtrack, the perfect people and the perfect weather.
I am in my thirties already and after attending so many parties and when I get an invitation I wish I had a magic ball to foresee how the party will look like, so I can decide to go only to places like this one.
I would like to give a special thanks to Zalando and its team.
