Here come the main three passions of my last few months: practicing boardsports, my toilet – I am painting its walls, hanging vinyls and signs pictures – and old stuff.
For those who don’t know: “vintage” and “retro” are not the same thing. Elisa Motterle explained me the difference, along with Rossella Migliaccio during their Vintage Styling course (you should definitely check it out).
Vintage refers to items from the Twenties to the Eighties, while retrò refers to something modern taking inspiration from the past. And then come second hand and pre-owned stuff. I didn’t know it, did you?
According to the great couple Motterle-Migliaccio, the look I am wearing in the picture (I bought the dress at the market in Viale Papiniano in Milan) takes inspiration from the Forties, which was my favorite decade for the following reasons:
– It was the time of pin ups, Casablanca, Rita Hayworth and Veronica Lake. I have recently watched The Lady From Shanghai and wow, I want to be the next Rita Hayworth.
– Uniforms were part of daily life, and I do have a thing for uniforms shops.
– The Forties were marked by the use of red lipstick. And this is more than enough for me to fall in love with that age.
– People were following the make-do-and-mend philosophy: they didn’t throw clothes away. They played with the same cloth over and over, transforming it in a completely new item.
– High waisted, wide leg pants were so popular. And I just love them.
-Men were actually hot.
However, I also belong to the Fifties: a blond doll look, wearing high heels, cooking in pastel colors kitchens like Malibu Barbie doll.
To be honest, I think I belong to all decades as long as they are “old”, including the trashy trends from the Eighties and the shabbiness from the Seventies.
Since I am obsessed by the vintage universe, I am looking for a fitted filter to apply on my photos.
I have recently discovered Lightroom by Adobe Creative Cloud and bingo, I found so many filters I can download.
You will see some of them in the following posts, and I don’t know why I am talking about it now. Or maybe I do: I am old inside and I am becoming senile already. That must be it.
